Delta to test free in-flight Wi-Fi this month

Delta Air Lines is preparing to run a two-week pilot of free Wi-Fi on domestic US flights. Delta Air Lines will begin testing free Wi-Fi on 55 domestic daily flights. The pilot is the first step to determine whether the airline will offer complimentary Wi-Fi as part of its onboard entertainment options. During the two-week test period, 55 randomly selected domestic flights will be selected each day for the tests. Passengers will be notified in advance via email and Delta’s mobile app whether their flight has been chosen for the test. At a travel industry conference last year, Ed Bastian, Delta’s CEO, hinted that the airline were contemplating a move to free connectivity. “I don’t know of anywhere else besides in an airplane that you can’t get free Wi-Fi,” he said. The Delta test will not support streaming services, but it will enable passengers to browse, email, shop and message. Delta To Receive First Airbus A330neo

American carrier Delta Airlines is set to receive its first Airbus A330neo within the next couple of months. The aircraft has been spotted in Toulouse receiving the finishing touches before delivery. Delta has ordered 35 A330neo aircraft. The delivery was broken by  FlightGlobal . The  A330neo  is the latest aircraft from the Airbus A330 family. While it retains the original overall design of the A330, new features make it far more environmentally friendly. However, while there are two models of the A330neo, one has sold rather poorly compared to the other. So far just three of the aircraft have been delivered. According to Airbus’ official order statistics, 230 A330-900 aircraft have been ordered. Of this, 35 aircraft have been ordered by Delta Airlines. The smaller A330-800 has sold less well with only eight total orders, all from Kuwait Airways. The main difference with both new aircraft are their more efficient engines.
