Air Senegal To Operate The A380

Air Senegal is operating Hi Fly‘s only Airbus A380 on a flight between Paris and Dakar today. According to the Paris Aeroport website, the flight will depart Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) at 07:45 pm arriving at Dakar’s Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) at 11:35 pm.

What are the details?

According to Aviation24.be, Air Senegal typically operates an Airbus A330-900 on Flight HC404 between Paris and Dakar. This aircraft, Air Senegal’s only Airbus A330-900 (9H-SZN), is operated by Hi Fly Malta. However, apparently the plane is experiencing technical difficulties and is currently located in Dakar, which has meant that the airline had to find a replacement for the route.
This is exactly where one of Hi Fly’s other aircraft, its A380 (9H-MIP), comes into play.
As reported by Simple Flying, the Hi Fly A380 is used as a wet-lease aircraft. This means that Hi Fly provides the aircraft as well as the crew, fuel, service, and insurance. Several airlines around the world have used it in the past. Apparently, now it is Air Senegal’s turn to wet-lease the aircraft.
As a matter of fact, the aircraft has already relocated from Beja Airport (BYJ) to Charles de Gaulle ready to start work on the route. According to data provided by Flightradar24, it touched down in Paris at 6:58 pm after a 1 hour and 53 minutes flight. Evidently, it is in position for a flight later on today.

Severe Turbulence Trashes Emirates Airbus A380’s Interior

On July 13th a video surfaced of the aftermath aboard the upper deck lounge of an Emirates A380. According to  Paddle your own Kanoo , the incident is said to have taken place on Friday, July 12th. The flight was reportedly Emirates flight EK449 from Dubai to Auckland, New Zealand. Emirates has 111 Airbus A380 aircraft. Trays of cakes and sandwiches can be seen all over the floor, along with bottles of water and alcohol. It’s predictable that unsecured items like these would be strewn about in a case of turbulence. Three Chinese airlines claim 737 MAX compensation from Boeing

The three main Chinese airlines, China Southern, China Eastern, and Air China, have sent a formal request to Boeing for compensation for the cost of grounding their 737 MAX and the postponements of deliveries. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) was the first to order the country’s airlines to suspend Boeing 737 MAX 8 commercial operations following Ethiopian Airlines crash. On March 13, 2019, three days after Ethiopian Airlines crash, Norwegian Air Shuttle was the first affected company to publicly consider compensation. Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen, a spokesperson for the low-cost carrier told  e24.no  that it would claim compensation from the plane manufacturer: "We will send the full bill to Boeing. Norwegian should not be penalized economically because a totally new plane cannot fly”.
